The Dual Pillars of Viksit Bharat 2047: Why Prosperity Requires Power​

A nation’s prosperity (Samridh Bharat) cannot be sustained without strength (SashaktBharat). To achieve a developed India by 2047, economic growth must go hand in hand while investing equally into the military strength. In any case investment into security contributes directly into prosperity. And modernisation of industrial infrastructure directly builds up economy and military strength.

There is an ever-present perception in the views of the political leaders and the economist that with economic power peace can be bought. History and the present geo political environment are instructive that nothing can be further than truth. A rich nation or society is held hostage if their security is at mercy of others. Countries like Japan, Gulf Nations and even the NATO partners of US realize that reliance on the might of US for security has immense costs of National sovereignty. The mighty Cholas ruled the high seas when the traders supported the powerful navy. Once the traders stopped supporting the navy, the Chola kingdom that was rich but yet went into quick decline.

However, there are five pillars of National Power that must be built in a balance so that India has a sustainable comprehensive national power.

The 5 Pillars of National Power (DIME T Framework):

D – Diplomacy: Global alliances, partnerships and geopolitical alignments to drive trade, build technology and shape the world view.

I – Informational: Digital sovereignty, cyber resilience, and build a positive geo political world view.

M – Military: Modernization, self-reliance, and deterrence. A responsible and responsive force.

E – Economic: Trade, infrastructure, and financial strength.

T – Technology: Leadership in AI, space, semiconductors, and deep-tech.

Investment into Defence has a direct positive impact in the economic growth. A self-reliantand Atmanirbhar Bharat will create jobs within the country developing an ecosystem of Academia, Industry and Market saving valuable funds and reducing shocks due to black swan events or external. Additionally, the exports of military equipment to the world creates influence, leverage and brings in funds through exports.  

Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Defense & Deep-Tech will secure the future of country through the indigenous manufacturing that will spur economic growth contributing directly to national security.
